いびきをしている人は睡眠中も疲れている

寝起きが悪いことには、様々な原因が絡んでいることが考えられます。

そのひとつには、睡眠をしているつもりなのに睡眠ができていない、いわゆる質の悪い睡眠が挙げられます。

睡眠とは体と脳をしっかりと休めることです。

ですから、長い時間、眠ったつもりでも体と脳がしっかりと休めていなければ、それは質の良い睡眠とは言えません。

そしてこのような状態は、体にも脳にも疲れが残っている状態ですから、寝起きが悪くなるのも頷ける話です。

睡眠の質を低下させる要因は様々、考えられますが、その内のひとつとして睡眠時無呼吸症候群の存在を挙げることができます。

これは一言で言うと、眠っている間に呼吸が一時的に止まってしまう症状です。

男性では30人に1人、女性では200人に1人の割合でこれにかかるとされており、日本における潜在患者数は300万人以上にものぼるとも言われています。

人間が生きていくためには、正しいリズムで呼吸をすることが絶対的に必要です。

これが乱されると、ましてや一時的であれ呼吸が止まってしまうと、全身や脳に必要な酸素が届けられなくなるため、酷い疲れを招くことにもなります。

そしてこれは睡眠中であっても同様です。

つまり睡眠時無呼吸症候群の人は、睡眠中にあるにもかかわらず疲れを招くような状況になっていると言うことができます。

睡眠時無呼吸症候群は、実はいびきとも深い関係があるとされています。

いびきと言うのは、喉や気管と言った、鼻や口から吐いた空気の通り道が狭くなることで、呼吸の際にそれらが振動している音のことです。

いびきをしていると言うことは空気の通り道が狭くなっていることであり、空気の通り道が狭くなっていると言うことは呼吸がうまく行われにくくなる要因とも言えます。

そのため、いびきが酷い人には、睡眠時無呼吸症候群を発症してしまう可能性が高くあるとも言われています。
